This class slams The Recovery Coach Academy and Ethical Considerations together for a complete 46-hour training needed to apply for the CRPA-P certification in NYS. In April of 2022 the criteria changes to include 4 hours of MAT.

The class runs evenings only on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of each week. The dates are January 26th, 27th, 28th, and February 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th,10th, 11th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 23rd, 24th, and 25th.

The times are from 6PM to 9PM. And we meet via zoom. This is a very interactive course and audio and video are needed. It is best to access the workshop from a laptop or computer, but your phone will work in a pinch.

About the Recovery Coach Academy:

The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© is an intensive training academy focusing on providing individuals with the skills needed to guide, mentor and support anyone who would like to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs. Provided in a retreat-like environment, the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© prepares participants by helping them to actively listen, ask really good questions, and discover and manage their own “inner stuff.”

About Ethical Considerations:

Peer-to-peer recovery services have grown exponentially over the past few years. The issue of ethical considerations has been discussed in many circles, yet formal training has been lacking for recovery coaches. This 16 hour training addresses this critical need. Based on the widely used Ethical Guidelines for the Delivery of Peer-based Recovery Support Services by William White and PRO-ACT (2007), this training is designed to help coaches, and anyone else working in the peer role, to understand how critical it is to be ethically responsible. 

We will use presentations, small group work, and role play to address role functions, coaching standards, issues of vulnerability, ethical decision making, performance enhancement and legal issues.  

We will practice using relevant scenarios that coaches face on a daily basis.
